The Challenge
The Sonatel Si Sen Gox Hackathon focused on creating technological solutions for community challenges in Senegal. Our team chose to address the organizational challenges of the Popenguine Pilgrimage.
Our Solution
We developed a mobile-first application that helps:
- Register pilgrims in groups
- Track pilgrimage logistics
- Manage accommodation assignments
- Coordinate transportation
Key Features
1. Group Registration
Created a system for registering pilgrims in groups with leader coordination.
2. Real-time Dashboard
Administrators could track registration progress and logistic status.
3. Mobile-First Design
The interface was designed primarily for mobile devices since most users would access via smartphones.
The Experience
Participating in this hackathon taught me:
- Rapid prototyping under time constraints
- Team collaboration in high-pressure situations
- Designing for users with varying technical literacy
- The impact technology can have on community events
